Sometimes my conversation with God — my adoration — looks like this, below (from Proverbs 16:15). (You don’t need to be a writer to write out your gutteral prayers to God.) If you know the bitterness of loss, pray this with me:
You turn the bitter into sweet. Not one bitter moment is exempt from your leadership. You take every pain, every ache, every loss and turn it into something of Your making.
I adore You, God who infuses every loss and every potential loss with Yourself. You heal with Yourself. You restore with Yourself. You put what was broken back together with Yourself.
You bring clouds that open to release rain. You see the end from the beginning and steward the end from the beginning in my life. At every juncture, You produce the spring rain of Yourself, washing my perspective, healing my insides with the showers of heavy rain.
I adore You, God who turns bitter into sweet.
You take the pain and lead me to You. I find the You I have desired most in the bitter. I adore You for Your surprise reveal.
