These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire. Revelation 2:18**
You see me and You know me. You made me, and yet Your eyes, now, bring healing for that which has been tainted by the world since You spoke my conception. They ignite, enflame. They burn beauty, refining, as they survey. They singe what is dark and leave the gold You planted deep.
Your eyes are active. Always transforming. You sear me with You and I am branded: His.
You kindle the cold and distant in my heart when I ask to see Your eyes. One received look from You … and I breathe new.
You see with fire. Layers within me are exposed before You and You bring depth with just one glance.
I am safe under Your watch. I am home here, within the scope of Your eyes that see through where I stumble into my not yet and refine me towards that beauty. When I want to hide, Your eyes of love are like my tether. Where can I go from Your presence?
I adore You, God who knows as He sees and heals as He knows. Your eyes, they mend. They patch. They re-mold. The lie I’ve believed — that refining is black and dark — fizzles under the Truth that Your eyes carry that refining fire. Because Your eyes, they dance with delight towards me. They cherish. They love. They pour over acres of barrenness to find life and call it forth.
They invite.
Your eyes form my canopy and under this covering I can’t help but say yes to whatever refining Your leadership might bring.
This kind of refining is like food. I need it to survive, to thrive.
I worship You, God whose eyes invite me to get lost in Your vision, and be replaced, made new. I adore You, oh God, whose stare is safe for me. I welcome the fire in Your eyes, it makes me who You intended me to be before the world got ahold of me.
Your eyes, they transform. Your perspective it washes. Your flame is what I crave. When my heart receives the revelation of the beauty You search out in me, I fall at Your feet. Take all of me, is my response to that look. That True look.
**So what do I do with these posts, you ask, other than just read them? First, if you haven’t yet, read: Why I Adore and Morning Chai, Explained to give you a context for this little space on my blog.
If you are compelled, I invite you to participate. Set up a space and time in your own life to begin adoring. Over laundry or dinner dishes, on your commute to work, or in the wee morning hours — five or ten minutes is a great start. You can use the verse I list here every day or two as a launch pad for your own adoration. (Showing Up gives you some practicals.)
Then practice praise.
Add to my adoration here, by posting a comment with your own words back to God about God …or hide it in your heart. Or wait until a Monday and link up to my adoration posts with your own adoration.
I promise your weary soul won’t regret it.
