RESOURCE ALERT 👉🏽: I’ve been fascinated by writings about WWII since I read Elie Wiesel’s Night 15 years ago. This year, I decided to tackle Bonhoeffer’s biography. (And I don’t love biographies.)
Just after the turn of this new year, I read how he would read the Moravian daily Bible texts with his daily devotions. I made a note to look into these. (A man who lived and died as he did makes me want to know what he read.)
The very next day, The Moravian Daily Texts for 2021 arrived in my mailbox as a random gift from a friend (!!!). This was not an Amazon purchase; these texts are obscure enough to cause me to pay attention to this gift and when it arrived.
I know little of their history, except that the old texts are re-purposed year after year. Around 3:30 each day, I’ve sunk into my bedroom chair and breath-prayed through the antiphonal scripture and hymn excerpts. This is a sweet devotional … (and I don’t really like devotionals, either 😉 — I’m a picky reader).
